1. Practical Herbalism. Tuesdays, February 11 - April 29, 2025 7:00 PM CST
Join Joan for a 12 week online course in Traditional Western Herbalism. This is a basic course for those just stepping into herbalism, or who are early in your learning and you feel like you have gaps. It will give you a language for communicating about herbs, and resources for learning more. And it will be practical! We’ll focus on using herbs in everyday life for common health concerns. Classes will be approximately an hour, though some may run slightly more. You will receive handouts each week, before the class. Attendance is important; there will not be recordings. We will cover:​

Vitalism, connecting with the plant world, safety

Apothecary tools and setup

Selecting, harvesting and storing herbs

Energetics and taste (how plants talk to us)

Infusions, decoctions, oils and honeys.

28 common, potent herbs and weeds for a variety of health concerns, along with pairings, drawn from:
alteratives, digestive aids , immune support, nervines, vulneraries.
You will buy small amounts of all your own easily accessible herbs
from a supplier, if you don’t already have them .
$220 for the course.
2. Tutoring. February - September
This is for those who have had herb classes in the past and would like an educational experience scaled to you. Tutoring sessions are once a month and more intensive. I use focused discussion, presentations, Q&A and exercises; and connect the information to what you know, as I go. The focus is on developing skill and understanding so that you can gain autonomy and make better herbal choices. There will be plenty for you to work with between sessions! I will have 4 slots — 2 day and 2 evening on Thursdays. They are once a month for an hour, and run for 8 months from February until September. We will mostly meet online. If you are local or want to drive, we can do some apothecary time and / or weed walks together in some seasons.
$260.00 for the 8 months.

3. Mentoring.
Wouldn't it be nice to have support? If you are setting up a practice in Oklahoma or would like assistance with client questions, I am glad to help. All mentoring is online, and if you are starting an herbal business, I will share Oklahoma resources that I found supportive.
On an as-needed basis — $35.00 per hour.
